桃ちゃんもいろんな点で「規格外の男」だからなあ。桃ちゃんの描く歴史は現実の歴史ではなくて、桃ちゃんが史料を素材に精密に再構成した「仮想現実空間（バーチャルリアリティ）」のような感じがする。

新書だと桃崎有一郎氏の『室町の覇者 足利義満』（ちくま新書、2020）が巻末に相当詳しく、典拠とその年月日まで載せているけど、実際に確認する読者は少ないのだろうな。本文中に重要なポイントだけ出典を明記するという『観応の擾乱』のやり方が、新書としては一番バランスが良いような感じがする。
